Empowering the Next Generation of Musicians Through Arts, Education, and Legacy

HOUSTON, TX (June 17, 2025) — The National Battle of the Bands (NBOTB) is proud to announce the return of its High School Summer Band Camp, taking place July 7–9, 2025 at Westbury High School in Houston, Texas. Now in its second year, this powerful three-day immersive experience will bring together aspiring high school musicians for elite-level instruction, hands-on training, and unforgettable mentorship.

“The High School Band Camp is one of the most meaningful ways we invest in the future of music and culture. It’s about more than playing an instrument—it’s about leadership, community, and legacy,” said Derek Webber, Executive Producer, National Battle of the Bands and CEO of Webber Marketing. “We’re proud to create a space where students can grow, connect, and envision themselves as the next champions of culture.”

Led by Dr. Juvon Pollard, Senior Associate Director of Bands at Texas Southern University, this camp continues NBOTB’s mission to strengthen music, arts, and education in the communities it serves, while amplifying opportunity and tradition for the next generation of band leaders.

“This camp offers students an incredible opportunity to sharpen their musical talents, develop their confidence, and get a firsthand look at what’s possible through dedication and community,” said Dr. Pollard. “Being surrounded by excellence, tradition, and mentorship helps these students envision their future—and empowers them to pursue it with confidence.”

Students will receive direct coaching from guest clinicians representing top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching band programs, gaining insight into performance techniques, leadership, and college readiness. The camp experience culminates in a student showcase, providing participants with a stage to showcase their growth and artistry.

Highlights of the 2025 NBOTB High School Band Camp include:

●      Expert instruction from HBCU marching band leaders and clinicians

●      A dynamic three-day program of musical and leadership development

●      Networking with peers and community leaders

●      On-site performance opportunities and recognition

●      Exposure to collegiate music pathways and scholarship resources

By fostering a vibrant environment for growth, collaboration, and creativity, the NBOTB Band Camp directly supports the organization’s larger goal of investing in youth through the arts and culture—building a pipeline of talent and pride that extends far beyond the stage.
